Kenai Fjords Tours from Seward to the Aialik Glacier As the fog was starting to lift and the sun was about to blanket the coastline, I was captivated by the beauty coming into view right in front of me.
I believe this is Pillar Point in the Harding Gateway area of Resurrection Bay.
This was part of a family trip during the summer of 2010 where we visited Anchorage, Denali National Park, Seward, and then Homer. One of the "must-do" items in Seward is a fjord tour. Shortly after boarding, we went to the almost-always-open bridge (having spent many hours on the water, one of the first places we like to visit is the bridge). So many captains are more than willing to chat a bit (often with a wealth of information and some fantastic stories too) and we had a great time chatting with our captain. He told us that it was the first day in SIXTY where they had seen sun on the Aialik Glacier. So, don't expect daily sun in Alaska; our first half of the trip had plenty of rain, but what a gift if the sun does come out!
