Steller's sea eagle - Rausu, Hokkaido, Japan (Sunrise on the Sea of Okhotsk)

It was February, and it was VERY cold. And, it was way too early. We left the hotel at 4:30am so that we could be on the boat and out into the Sea of Okhotsk before the sun came up. Some days the weather was cold, windy, and colorless. Not this morning... a light pink dusted the distance and the Steller's sea eagles were there to appreciate it (as were we).

This was taken on a trip meant solely for photography. We traveled to Tokyo and then took a domestic flight to the northernmost island of Japan (Hokkaido). On Hokkaido, we had vehicles to take our group to various places for photography. There were two trip guides but we arranged the trip through wildlife photographer Jon Cornforth.
