Roadside Balinese Macaques outside of Denpasar, Bali, Indonesia

This is a shot of one of those times where you just back away... I'm not quite sure why but all of a sudden, this guy was not pleased and squawked at me - don't even think about it!.

Balinese macaques are all over the island of Bali. Some are friendly; most are not. I'd strongly recommend against interacting with any of them. And, I'd also highly recommend leaving anything of value, or anything that dangles, back at the hotel.

Having said that, this group was relatively timid. We were well outside of the main tourist areas and really just at a roadside stop where locals (and occasional tourists) feed a troop of macaques that have come to hang out there. Which came first is another question...
